“Pen Case” ~ Karakoto Pattern Sanada-himo × Ocean Blue Tatami-beri ~

・On this site, we create small accessories by repurposing fabric scraps generated during the production of 【Kurashiki Wa-DENIM Kimono】 and 【Kojima Obi】.
・Guided by the principles of SDG Goal 12, “Responsible Consumption and Production,” we aim to cherish our materials and use them to their fullest potential.
・This pen case is also an item created by making the most of materials such as denim, Sanada-himo, and Tatami-beri.

★Tatami-beri
A fabric used to decorate the edges of tatami mats. Since ancient times, Tatami-beri was permitted only for use by the nobility, and its colors and patterns were used to symbolize one’s high social status.
The Tokyo Olympic emblem was also designed with the checkered pattern as inspiration.
Because the same pattern continues without interruption, it embodies a wish for “prosperity.”

★Sanada-himo
One of the narrowest woven fabrics in the world. It has been used to protect valuable items, such as straps for carrying armor and cords for tea ceremony boxes. It has a long history, having been sold as souvenirs along the approach to shrines during the Edo period.
